Mount Pleasant Crematorium
TEA has been supporting a residents group in the Moore Park area of Toronto in their quest to ensure a local crematorium is operating safely and with no health risks to the nearby residents.
The Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries (MPGC) operates a crematorium only 20 metres from a residential area. Residents have raised concerns about emission controls on the aging facility with the company and the Ministry of Environment. The community is also interested in developing a 300 metre buffer zone between residential/public land uses and crematoria, as recommended in other jurisdictions.
